Membership guidelines and fees

Membership Guidelines:

Membership in CEGN is open to organizations and individuals that:

  1. Make grants in support of the Canadian environment.
  2. Act primarily as grantmakers, not grantseekers.
  3. In the case of an individual, provide a total of $20,000 or more in grants per annum.
  4. In the case of a business or corporate funder, employ a formalized decision-making process with respect to their grantmaking

Members of CEGN are expected to demonstrate environmental responsibility in their policies and operations.

The applicant must agree not to use the membership in CEGN for the purposes of grantseeking.

CEGN membership fees are assessed annually based on the applicant’s total environmental granting in Canada in the applicant’s last full fiscal year.

The CEGN annual membership runs from January 1st to December 31st. For new members joining after June 30th, the fee will be discounted by 50%.

Each member organization will identify one individual to be the primary contact person for CEGN, including exercising the Member’s vote. Participation in CEGN events is open to all staff and Board memebrs of a member organization.

CEGN reserves the right to refuse membership to any organization that does not, in the opinion of CEGN’s Board, fully meet all of the membership criteria.
